The Cape Blanco Heritage Society is a group of volunteers providing educational and interpretive visitor services for this rugged and beautiful area. We care about the rich heritage of Oregon's south coast and seek to preserve historical reminders. The was formed by the merger of the Friends of Cape Blanco and Point (or Port) Orford Heritage Society.
Established and built in 1870, the Cape Blanco Lighthouse is the oldest and southernmost of Oregon's Lighthouses. It is now within a state park, although the lighthouse itself is managed by the federal Bureau of Land Management. The Fresnel lens is still installed in the lighthouse. Accommodations for overnight and/or long-term stays available.
