The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum was established in 1986 to preserve and interpret the maritime history and heritage of Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The museum was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but the city of Biloxi is building a new museum, scheduled to open in May 2014. The museum's collections are now located in Biloxi's Edgewater Mall.
