The City of Adelaide is the oldest clipper ship in existence. The hull now lies on a slipway near the Scottish Maritime Museum. The ship played a central role in immigration of UK citizens to Australia in the mid-19th century.
A number of heritage activists in Scotland and Australia lobbied for preservation of the vessel. In 2010, the Scottish government awarded an Australian group the right to move the ship to Adelaide, Australia.
The YouTube video shows the dedication of the first section of cradle which will carry City of Adelaide from Irvine, Scotland to Adelaide, Australia.
