Portland Head Lighthouse Maine Open Lighthouse Day celebrates Maine's unique lighthouse history by opening two dozen lighthouses to the public on the same day with similar hours. The event is intended for the whole family. Many local hotels and other businesses put together special Lighthouse Day packages. Price: FREE, although some lighthouses may charge for climbing the lighthouse tower. The event is presented by the U.S. Coast Guard, the State of Maine and the American Lighthouse Foundation.
